THE DEITIES OF DARKNESS
PERSONAL NOTE
Mental health is still a taboo topic we do not talk about enough nowadays. To forge ahead we search a cure to forget the negative mood and to focus on positive ‘‘vibes’’.
Art and culture make us travel into the unreal. We have recently experienced a traumatic period with the pandemic and the lockdown.
I did not feel good during this time. I needed to step back from my loneliness, my emptiness in the real world.
MY CREATURES
So, I started drawing monsters, mainly inspired by creatures in video games like Final Fantasy and in Japanese mythological culture like Yokai (demoniac spirits), which came to represent my negative thoughts as if these creatures were stuck in my head. The critters I created come from an imaginary world, from my sensations, from my feelings. I illustrated them as a purification of my sadness
